Antique Carl Zeiss Jena Feldstecher Vergr. 6 Binoculars. Functional. 1894-1907.
Brass and leather with aluminium eyecups. No strap or case. Independent focusing - vision is quite clear for it's age. One small screw missing to a prism cover (easlly replaced and does not affect functionality). One prism cover engraved "Carl Zeiss, Jena, D.R.P."(Deutsches Reichs Patent) and the other "Feldstecher. Vergr. = 6."
The Carl Zeiss Jena Feldstecher Vergr. = 6 (short for Vergrößerung 6, meaning 6x magnification) is a highly collectible, historical binocular produced between 1894 and 1907. Because these were made before Carl Zeiss Jena established continuous serial numbering, devices from this era were numbered per model or production batch. Authentic models feature silver alloy inlay for the engravings, brass bodies with aluminum or brass prism covers, and hinge mechanisms. Later military versions of this 6x optic, known as the O.D.F. 95 (Offiziers-Doppelfernrohr 95), were also heavily utilized.
Size: 14 x 10cm
