Description:  Antique Ceramic Inkstand signed and dated 1894. Ref. OR-37
Maker: Unknown but signed M. Mafsonlig 1894
   Date: Late 1800s
History: No makers mark apart from the signature which I cannot trace, but it is likely to be a French piece, in the Desvres style.
Marks/Observations: A superb French (?) faience inkstand, hand painted and decorated with flowers and coastal scene. It shows a central inkwell and four pen or quill holders
Condition: Very good overall. Slight marks on the corners through use. Glaze cracks on the underneath. Original inkwell and cover which is hard to find. The typical faience decorations still show strong colours.
   Dimensions: 110mm x 110mm x 80mm in height
   Price: R800.00
