ANTIQUE CHALWYN - Chalwyn Pilot Oil/Kerosene Hurricane Lantern with ORIGINAL Glass

ANTIQUE RARE ITEM   ----    CHALWYN OIL/KEROSENE HURRICANE PILOT LAMP/LANTERN  (Large)

These Lamps/Lanterns are extremely difficult to come by....and their Glass Chimney original is almost impossible

This rare and Magnificent piece is ALL original including the Glass Chimney (I have removed it for the pics)

These Lamps/Lanterns are usually cleaned up....polished and turned into the most GORGEOUS Decor items....although it should be noted that THIS lamp/lantern has a wick and can actually be USED

Although the surface of this ANTIQUE Beauty is covered in rust, I have checked thoroughly and this is a very thin,light rust layer. I was able to brush it off wherever I attempted to do so.  This leads me to believe that with not much effort this item can easily be cleaned and polished and thus restored to its former BEAUTY.  The Cap for the oil/kerosene cylinder screws on and off easily. The adjustment also works easily and the Handle swings freely.     There are NO breakages or damage to any of the Lamp/lantern parts including its metal. The ORIGINAL Glass Chimney has small chips around the bottom but nowhere else and is not cracked.  

CHALWYN is in Raised relief on the Glass in an oval circle along with the Chalwyn Manufacturers logo

On the metal of the Lamp is "CHALWYN PILOT" and on the other side next to the Cap....  "Vervaardig in Suid Afrika" on one side next to the Cap ...and "Made in South Africa" on the other.       The Cap itself has "Chalwyn" on it
