Antique Chinese opium scale in carved wooden case. I would date this old scale to the 1880s. The case slides open sideways to reveal a small arm scale with 2 little copper pans. The arm would be hung, and the pans attached to each side of the scale. The case is made of wood, and has 2 elephants carved on the top. These scales would have been used in opium dens to weigh the opium. It is in good condition considering that it is 140+ years old. Great buy.
