Antique Cut Glass Claret Jug with Silver Plated Mounted Handle and Lid In Good Condition

ON AUCTION IS AN ANTIQUE CUT GLASS CLARET JUG OR DECANTER WITH MOUNTED SILVERPLATED HANDLE, SPOUT AND HINGED LID. IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS OR CRACKS.
 
THE SILVERPLATED MOUNTING HAS AN ENGRAVED DESIGN OF FLOWERS AND A NICE BUD FINIAAL TO A HINGED LID AND A HANDLE THAT EXTENDS HALFWAY DOWN TO THE BASE.
 
THE GLASS HAS A GEOMETRIC CUT DESIGN TO THE SIDES AND A STARBURST DESIGN ON THE BOTTOM.
 
BETWEEN 1830 AND 1920 THESE TYPE OF JUGS BECAME VERY POPULAR IN BRITAIN AND EUROPE. MANY WERE MADE WITH STERLING SILVER MOUNTINGS. THEY ARE NOW VERY COLLECTABLE.
 
MARKINGS: JV ENGRAVED ON CARTOUCHE TO SIDE. NO OTHER MARKINGS VISIBLE.
 
SIZE: 13CM WIDE FROM SPOUT TO HANDLE 25CM HIGH UP TO LID FINIAAL
