Made by Darwins Ltd aka Darwin Ltd from c1932 into the 1950s. Made in England. Two models the DeLuxe and the Universal. The DeLuxe has a stainless steel case and the Universal had a chrome plated case.

VINTAGE DARWIN DE-LUXE SAFETY RAZOR
ENGLISH PATENT NO 397334 SHEFFIELD ENGLAND highly collectable and much sought after this is a great piece of vintage gents vanity shaving ware - marked on the top of the stainless steel box: DARWIN DE-LUXE HOLLOW GROUND SAFETY RAZOR and on the side: DARWINS LTD SHEFFIELD ENGLAND PAT NO 397334 FOREIGN PATENTS PENDING MADE IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND understood that Darwin advertised this as the 'Aristocrat of the Bathroom' - designed in 1933 and the British Patent was issued in 1934 - the USA patent in 1935 - made of cobalt steel known for its hardness -
the box opens with a depressable catch on the end -the lid lifts to reveal the razor in its own mount - there is a leather strap in the base - we have not taken it out but you can see the top in the photos - of course it may need cleaning we cannot say - we understand that the blade holder mechanism near the hinge end should flip over - back and forth with the push pull action of the stropping mechanism - we are not sure how exactly this should work in practice and it probably needs some attention - with only minor scuffs to the box -this is a great item
