ANTIQUE ART DECO DIAMOND 9CT YELLOW GOLD AND PLATINUM RING. OLD MINE CUT DIAMONDS, GEM TESTED

This delicate vintage Art Deco style piece is well-crafted in 9ct yellow gold, with a flat marquise-shaped ring head with 4 x Old Mine cut diamonds claw set, one in each segment, in platinum. The ring head measures 11mm across x 6mm long, and sits 2.5mm above the finger. The piece weighs a dainty 1.57 grams, and sits comfortably and snugly on the finger. The diamonds have been gem tested. The hallmarks show both the British indicators for Platinum and the 9ct gold. A delightfully old piece with a story to tell, unfortunately there are no hallmarks beyond that to tell me just how old it is. However, there are three important indicators of its vintage - the cut of the diamonds, the design itself and the combination of platinum and gold. I rather suspect it was once an engagement ring. I found it in the hands of a favourite antique jeweller in the midlands of England. Something of a collectable.
