ANTIQUE FRENCH METRONOME SELON MAELZEL
Great condition - working perfectly

The metronome is of French origin and as far as we could determine, dates from before 1920. It could date back as far as the mid 1800's, but we could not confirm this.
General condition is very good, with little wear and no major damage. Usually pieces like this have missing parts, bits broken off and are almost never in a working condition.
The metronome has been serviced and is in a working condition with a good loud tick and a clear sounding bell.
The wood, likely mahogany, is in good condition with no cracks or missing pieces. In order to keep it as original as possible, none of the metal parts have been polished and the wood only cleaned.
It does not have the original key, but we had a replacement made that will be included.
Please have a look at the detailed images in order to make your own judgement of age and condition.

The metronome has a removable door that is secured by means of a hook and eye at the top.
Tempo is adjusted by moving the sliding weight up and down the arm and it can be adjusted from just over 200 down to 40 beats per minute.
On the one side it has a pull knob with 5 settings. This adjusts the bell to ring on every second, third, fourth or sixth beat. With the knob pushed all the way in, the bell does not ring.
The metronome stands 23cm tall and the base measures 10.5cm x 10.5cm.
