Antique French Porcelain Wine Cooler/Jardiniere
This wonderful, seldom seen, large antique French porcelain wine cooler or jardiniere from the early 1800's, has a super bulbous shape with lovely, white, gilt acanthus shaped handles. It has a dark green background with a beautiful hand painted round panel on the front, of a country scene with a castle, boarded with a beautiful, detailed gilt frame with apples. On the back, there's a wonderful hand painted gilt picture, combining musical instruments, farming tools and a large basket of flowers with knotted ribbon above (a tambourine, pan flute, horn, spade, rake etc). There's also, on the base, a small hand painted number '2100' with the letter 'F' above. Other than some wear to the gilding on the rims, and minor scratches to the green background and interior, it's in great condition. The jardiniere stands 16,3cm high, with a top diameter of 18,3cm, a base diameter of 13,5cm, a handle to handle measurement of 22cm and it weighs 1,7kg.
