Antique Georgian  gilded porcelain teacup and saucer Circa 1800-1820 Ref. C- 51

The charming cup and saucer duo shown above (typically unmarked) shows a rather distressed pattern in gilt as an 'overglaze' on a fine translucent white porcelain. The cup is a 'bute' shape and has a simple 'loop'handle set below the rim with a 'V' shaped upper and lower attachment.  Possibly made by New Hall Porcelain Works (1781-1835). It shows a strong 'fluted' design on both the cup and saucer. A very deep saucer with no 'well' for the cup to sit in and a very rough 'glaze'  with 'blow holes' and small black spots (due to contamination of coal dust from the kilns) also help to substantiate the date.

The cup and saucer, although showing a badly worn decoration, are in good condition with no cracks or chips.
Rather 'shabby chic ' and more of academic interest to the serious collector.

The cup stands 6.0 cm high with a diameter of 8.50 cm. The saucer stands 3.0 cm high with a diameter of 14.3cm.

Please note, I am NOT a qualified archaeologist/antiquarian and the description I have given is based on research of the subject.
This is a genuine antique. Please remember the classification of an 'antique' is that it should be 100 years old, OR MORE. There are many articles being offered as 'antiques' when, clearly, they are not.
