Antique German Solid Silver Serving Spoon (1929)
This impressive, very early, large, heavy solid silver serving spoon from the early 1800's was probably manufactured in Germany or Austria. It has a lovely shape with a beautifully gilded bowl and has the initials and date 'AN 1829' engraved on the top of the handle. The back of the spoon has the unusual 'zigzag' (Tremolierstrich) assayer's test mark, which is seldom seen, and the number '12' (from the Loth system), which represents the fineness of silver, in this case '750' (750/1000). On either side of the '12' there's a makers mark 'CL' which I haven't been able to trace. The spoon is in excellent condition with no wear to the gilding and it measures 30,5cm in length, has a bowl size of 10,5cm x 6,1cm and weighs of 130g.
