Antique hat stand - top

Antique hat Stand - top part.

I bought this because it was shown in the picture by the seller as standing up on it's own and in that way I could use it. When I received it, however, I discovered it had a metal piece jutting out from the bottom where it was originally attached to the upright post. I was not prepared to remove this piece - it is steel and would damage the hat stand. So it became useless to me. Perhaps someone else who is handy with wood can actually fit it into a base of some sort and so get it to stand upright. It would be worth it to do so.  

I have no idea what sort of wood it is. It is a solid, heavy, very nice piece of wood though. There are scratches and it could do with a light sanding and oiling. size 35cm high x 38cm wide

Condition - good. Exactly as I received it a couple of months ago. 

Postage on this item R65-00 - very heavy. Happy to combine multiple purchases to save on postage but check with me to see if it pushes the weight into the next category or not.
