The ultimate statement piece  for the modern loft apartment, man - cave, pub or bar or even next to the fireplace in a rustic farm cottage.

It will also appeal to the collector of historical construction and architectural artefacts.

It is an impressive piece indeed.

This heavy primitive cast iron pulley with its imposing swivel - head  hook and beautifully rusted patina was rescued from an old barn in the small rustic town of McGregor outside of Cape 

It shows signs of age although we cannot be sure of the date , it is very possibly an antique, dating from around the early 20th Century.

It was likely an agricultural implement, used in a hay loft. It is of quite a significant weight, has a double pulley system,  and may have been used for heavy duty industrial tasks.

It has no discernable makers mark but the two letters "F H"  scratched into the surface of the metal.

It does have signs of natural wear from use, as is visible in the rusty, aged patina of the metal.

Unfortunately it must be noted that the hook is fixed in place and although it does swivel , it does not bend forward or backward. This may be due to rust.

The double pulley mechanism is still in working order.
