Antique Heavy Hanau Silver Purse Frame with Chatelaine Clip (1903)
This ornate, sterling silver, heavy purse frame has been decorated with repousse figures of people in period dress playing musical instruments. The frame has small holes on the edge of each side for attaching your purse material. The small head (top & centre)is the catch to open the frame. It is English hallmarked, on the back, with the Import mark for London 1903, with a makers mark B.M. for Berthold Muller, who were importers of 'Hanau' silver from Germany in the early 1900s. The frame mechanism works well and opens and closes nicely and the condition is excellent for its age. It measures 19cm from the top of the clip to the hinge and 11.5cm in width. The thickness of the frame is 1.2cm and it weighs 144g.
