Antique Japanese SATSUMA Vase KOSHIDA Meiji-Taisho Period 19th/20th Century.
Signed Koshida Shimazu Clan Family Crest Meiji Period (late 19th century) - Satsuma.
The circle with a cross that often make up a part of the marks, are the Shimazu mon or
the family crest of the clan that ruled Satsuma Han. Koshida seems to have been a
prolific maker of Satsuma from at least the 1880,s.
Much of their production was decorated by some of the best artists and bears their
marks as well as Koshida's. Koshida would have closed about 1927.
The vase appears to feature an elegant design that includes peacocks, trees, and flowers.
The colors are vibrant, with golden, red, green, and various other hues,
likely emphasizing the natural beauty and richness of the scene depicted.
