Antique Joseph Lucas Ltd Petroleum Silver King motorbike/ bicycle lamp. I would estimate that this Birmingham made lamp would have been manufactured in the early 1900s. . The lamp has the glass reflector cover in front, which would shelter the little petroleum burner inside. The little fuel tank is at the bottom, which has a screw-in cap for filling. It has a green and red reflector on the sides, of which the red one opens for lighting the burner. On the back of the lamp is a spring loaded bracket for attaching the lamp to the bicycle/ motorbike. The lamp is nickel plated, and measures 13cm x 15cm. It is branded "Lucas King of the Road" on the top and "Joseph Lucas Ltd, Petroleum Silver King, Birmingham, England" just above the front glass reflector. It is in excellent condition for its age - lamp is complete, reflector glass is unblemished as are the jewels, all hinges and clips intact. I have not cleaned the lamp. Great buy for the collector or restorer.
