A vibrant, shallow ceramic bowl, likely intended as a jam pot, conserve dish, or sugar bowl, made by Lancaster & Sons Ltd. of Hanley, England. The company operated under the name L & Sons Ltd. from 1906 to 1944, dating this piece most likely to the 1920s or 1930s, a period known for its brightly decorated "English Ware."
The base features the distinctive green backstamp: "MADE IN ENGLAND," "L & SONS LTD," and "HANLEY. ENG."
Design: The exterior is decorated with a vivid, multi-coloured, transfer-printed or hand-finished floral pattern. It features large, stylized flowers and leaves in shades of bright red, blue, pink, and green against a yellow, textured ground, bordered by blue and gold lines. This bold, colourful style is characteristic of the Art Deco era's interest in decorative and accessible pottery.
Lid: The bowl is topped with a removable, slightly domed EPNS (Electroplated Nickel Silver) lid, complete with a small knob handle and a cut-out notch to accommodate a serving spoon.
Size: The dimensions are approximately 5cm in height and 10cm in diameter.
CONDITION: Excellent antique condition.
