Globe-shaped with three small ball feet and a black central rim. Decorated with a tartan pattern, often the Stuart tartan, and gold stringing.

Mauchline ware is a popular collectible, with various forms including sewing accessories, desk items, and kitchenware.

The are at least two cracks which go through the top cover. The are also minor bashes and markings on the cover (please review pictures as they form part of the description and show any damage).
A pristine Mauchline String Box sells for £50-100 (R1,200 to R2,400) as per my research. This is item is far from pristine, whilst including what appears to be vintage or antique string, and starting bid is so low.
Feel free to ask any questions or further pictures before you bid in confidence.
