Antique Microscope or Scientific Instrument (F.E. Becker & Co.)

This very unusual, antique microscope or scientific instrument from the late 1800's or early 1900's was made in London, England by 'F.E. Becker & Co.' who were established in 1872. I'm not exactly sure what this instrument is, or if it works properly, or even if something might be missing, but this is how I came across it. It stands on a heavy three-legged iron base, with the rest appearing to be either blackened brass or white metal, and a brass plate with the words 'F.E. BECKER & Co., LONDON, No. 1881' impressed on it. The instrument stands 35,5cm high, with a base measurement of 19cm x 19cm and it weighs a heavy 2,24kg.
