  •  Antique Minton Wall Tile, Aesthetic Movement  Circa  1879-1885. Ref. CL/30
  • Maker: Mintons China Works, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.
  • Date: Circa 1879-1885
  • History and DescriptionThomas Minton opened his pottery factory in 1793 and soon became one of the best-known potters in England. The design on the tile is by William Wise (the Aesthetic Movement Period). This is a lead-glazed earthenware tile, transfer printed in a brown sepia colour from a copper plate, depicting a farm scene of sheep in a paddock with the barn in the background. Mintons China Works Stoke on Trent and the famous Mintons Globe mark are observed on the reverse.
  • Condition: Very good condition throughout with just a few flea-bites on the edges. It does not appear to have ever been used on a wall. Look carefully, and you will see some very fine glaze cracks on the surface, a good indicator of the age of the tile.
  • Dimensions: 15.2 cm X 15.2 cm X 1.0 cm thick.
  •  Price: 450.00
