Antique Paul Kruger 1904 'Volkstem Begrafnis' (Funeral) Medallion

This early, bronze medallion was commissioned by the Pretoria newspaper Die Volksstem, for the funeral of the Boer War President Paul Kruger in Pretoria in 1904 and was manufactured by 'Begeer' of Holland. The front is decorated with a bust of Paul Kruger and the words 'S.J.P. KRUGER, STAATS PRESIDENT DER Z.A. REPUBLIEK 1883 - 1900.' The back has the words 'VOLKSSTEM AANDENKEN BEGRAFENIS VAN DE GROTE AFRIKANER PAUL KRUGER PRETORIA DEC 1904.' The medallion is in excellent condition and has a diameter of 2.8cm.
