This miniature oil portrait was probably painted in the early 1900s after Alonso Sánchez Coello’s original of Anne of Austria, Queen of Spain (Museo Lazaro Galdiano in Madrid, Spain). See first picture below.
Coello (1531- 8 August 1588) was an Iberian portrait painter of the Spanish and Portuguese Rennaisace. He is mainly known for his portrait paintings executed in a style, which combines the objectivity of the Flemish tradition with the sensuality of Venetian painting. He was court painter to Philip II.
In brass frame measuring 105 mm x 130 mm.
