ANTIQUE MEAT GRINDER/MINCER

Rare and unusual type, estimated from around 1900

Great display piece but perfectly useable too!

These meat grinders are not found every day and we estimate this one to be from the late 1800's to early 1900's.

Instead of the normal cylindrical shape, it has a hinged body, with the top part opening to give access to the blades and worm.

Blades are situated on either side of the worm in both the upper and lower parts and the meat is continually forced through the blades until it reaches the end.

Judging by the shape of the spout, this model was mainly used for sausage making. It is a little more ornate than most grinders and has an enamel coating throughout the inside.

It is in good condition apart from a chip to the hopper as can be seen in the images. The worm and blades are in good condition with very little rust, just needs a good clean.

The clamp is missing, but it should be fairly easy to make a plan to clamp it to a counter.

It is marked "E. N." above a boat or ship emblem. "D.R. PATENT" appears on the one side and it appears to be model 4A.

The grinder body only measures about 14cm x 13cm and and total height is about 23cm. It is a very heavy, solid cast iron piece.
