Antique rare Zachariah Boyle 'Chinese Flora' plate circa 1823-1828 -
Ref. NovA4

This is an outstanding and rare plate by Zachariah Boyle! Unfortunately, very little information is known about this rather elusive pottery, apart  from the fact that they operated in Hanley in Staffordshire between 1823 to 1828 under the name Zachariah Boyle, changing the name to Zachariah Boyle and S (son?) from 1828 to 1850. But, even though the company operated for such a short period, they turned out exceptional wares comparable to Minton.  This was possibly that the two companies shared expertise, the factories were adjacent to each other and one of Zacharian's sons was in partnership with Minton around 1836 to 1841.
The plate above is from the series 'Chinese Flora', and would date to the 1823-1828 period.  Zachariah also produced his 'Indian Flora' series at around the same time. The plate
has a transfer printed design with colourful hand enamelled plants and flowers in the Chinoiserie style and is marked on the back inside a crowned shield along with the makers initials ZB inside a banner.

The plate remains in excellent condition with virtually no scratches, no cracks, no chips and no loss of paint,  remarkable, considering the age is close on 180-190 years!
It measures 26.5cm in diameter and stands 3cm high

This is a genuine antique. Please remember the classification of an 'antique' is that it should be 100 years old, OR MORE. There are many articles being offered as 'antiques' when, clearly, they are not.
