An antique pig figure matchbox holder or cover, it has a leather inset striker and the wording "Scratch Me" engraved on one corner.
The pig figure is raised from the background, which itself has an engraved landscape.
The item is made from brass.
This is a very attractively decorated antique brass cover for a larger sized box of matches (about 2.9 inches in length). It makes the matchbox easier to find and can be left on display in any room setting, ready to light fires, a range cooker or candles etc.
