Antique Royal Albert Poppy Trio
On auction is an antique Royal Albert Poppy trio. The Poppy pattern was introduced by Royal Albert in 1986. The back stamps on of this trio indicates that this particular Poppy trio was produced between 1896 and 1904, making this trio one of the very first pieces produced by Royal Albert and an extremely rare specimen. This trio is between 112 and 120 years in age!
The trio is in exceptionally good used condition with absolutely no cracks or chips to any of the individual pieces. The saucer and side plate rings true / pings perfectly clear when tapped lightly with a pencil, but the cup does not – hence the low opening bid for such an exceptional piece. There is some wear to and rubbing of the gilding of the items, but for its age this trio is in really fantastic condition!
The cup does not have the Royal Albert crown figure back stamp with the word Poppy underneath it, but does have the number 1023 written on it, which is quite typical to porcelain from this era. Both the saucer and side plate have the 1896 - 1904 Royal Albert crown figure back stamp with the word Poppy underneath it.
