Antique Royal Crown Derby Imari Pattern 6299, Derby Witches, Miniature Butter Churn and Lid, dated 1912
This is a very rare Antique Royal Crown Derby Fine English Bone China miniature milk churn and lid decorated in the Imari 6299 Witches Pattern.The churn is decorated in the rich Imari palette of cobalt blue, terracotta, pale green and gold, and gilded throughout the pattern. The churn bears the maker's mark and a date mark for 1912 which matches with the mark used from c1891 to 1921 by the Osmaston Road Factory. The lid is also marked and numbered 1 while the churn is numbered 2. All the marks are in red. This piece is in a very good condition, quite remarkable for its age with no chips, cracks, crazing, or fading of the colours. The fact that this miniature piece has survived two world wars in this pristine condition is remarkable in itself. An identical, but younger piece, is currently for sale in Canada for 995 Canadian Dollar.
It measures approximately 5 cm X 6.5 cm, and the base has a diameter of about 4.7 cm.
A great little piece that will be a fantastic addition to any Royal Crown Derby Collection.
