Antique Senneh Kilim circa 1850-1900 - Different unique colour combination

The carpet is a real rare find. It was made in Senneh circa 1890 -1900 when for unknown reasons, the kilims were made in less bright earthly tones with the colour scheme unusual from the traditional. Seldom used black has also been used in the field area of the carpet. The carpet features an intricate medallion and corner design on an ornately patterned floral field with the borders having its own set of repeating patterns. Senneh kilims are sought after because of the delicate meticulous and unique hand-weaving technique of its people. The carpet measures 2000cm x 1550cm (787.40" x 610.24") approximately.
