Antique Snail Shaped JL Bascule Paris Inkwell. This lovely round brass inkwell stand is c1900. It would originally have had 3 snail shaped porcelain inkwells on the stand (unfortunately 2 are missing). These inkwells are on their own individual stands, which would fold up when not in use to keep the ink fresh. It has a rest on the top, on which the quills were rested. As stated, 2 porcelain wells are missing and an arm of 1 of the stands has broken off. However still a very interesting antique item for the collector.
