A superb ship's clock and barometer set, each housed in identical solid brass, very heavy "porthole" casings. The casings are early and original, in my estimation dating back to circa 1900 judging by wear and hinge design. Each are held shut with 2 large screw bolts, which when loosened allow the casings to be opened to reveal the backs of the clock and barometer. The clock casing has it's original, very thick glass. The clock itself has a later quartz movement (not working - has to be serviced / repaired / replaced) and the clock face is possibly also a later replacement. It states "SHIP'S TIME" and "QUARTZ" with a ship's wheel logo. The barometer is an early example and is untested. It bears the maker's name "DAYMASTER". The glass has possibly been replaced at some stage (thinner than the clock's glass). Both casings are mounted on a solid blackwood board with a shaped edge. The overall condition of the piece is good with great patina to the brass. All parts are present and the glass fully intact. This is a heavy piece at around 10kg (my guess).
Size (base) : 62 x 30 cm
Diameter (casings) : 22 cm
Diameter (glass) : 14.5 cm
