This very early and unusual bronze medal was awarded to 'IVY CROSS' in 1910. These medals were awarded to school children in the late 1800's and early 1900's to improve attendance levels. Education authorities rewarded children who had spotless attendance records with medals. The front reads 'SOUTHEND-ON-SEA EDUCATION COMMITTEE' and the back reads 'AWARDED TO IVY CROSS FOR REGULAR ATTENDANCE 1910.' It is in excellent condition, measures 37mm in diameter and weighs 22.9g.
