Antique Sovereign Rocker Coin Scale
Manufactured in Victorian times, this balance scale is designed to accommodate the full and half sovereigns. It's a very clever design in that this scale checks the weight but also the circumference and the thickness of the sovereign and half-sovereign. As gold is one of the heaviest metals one way to forge a sovereign in brass would be to make it slightly larger to make up the weight. This clever invention puts a stop to that. It comes in its original box (not shown).
