Antique sword - British P1853 universal cavalry troopers sabre

British Pattern 1853 universal cavalry sabre, no scabbard. Sword is in sound condition and is structurally secure. 

The sabre only has one stamp: what looks to be a double P on the true edge of the forte. No other unit or inspection marks are visible. 

Also,  a previous owner was clearly an irresponsible moron who used a power tool to clean the blade. A large number of scratches are visible perpendicular to the spine. See attached photo, that level of scratching is largely consistent across the blade.

While in my care, the sword has only been gently cleaned of active rust and grime. 

Given the scratches, this sword is a good candidate for a full restoration project, but that is at the owners discretion.
