In good condition, the blade in very good condition, a scarce Victorian British Junior Royal Navy Officer's Sword.
Etched to the blade's ricasso and embossed to the top scabbard locket; "Whiteman Outfitter Woolwich". Black fishskin grips are for junior officers (2nd lieutenants) and are much scarcer than white fishskin officer swords.
The 30 inch blade is in very good condition, just a couple of patina splotches, firm in the hilt. The hilt has lost its gilt and has some bending towards the pommel. The black fishskin (for junior officers) grip is in very good condition and would clean up well; the twisted grip wire bindings also good. The scabbard with age but sound. The folding guard section of the guard works well and locates onto the top scabbard locket's retaining pin. The sword sheathes and draws well.
