Antique Wooden Tie Press with Metal Clamps - Stunning!!! Crazy R1 N/R

TAINKOL Tie press

Here we have on offer an antique tie press with metal clamps, marked on the top "TIANKOL, Registered Trade Mark", though the marking is quite worn.  In reality this item is very pracitical and decorative.  The were made before dry cleaning and were used to press wrinkles out of neckware. Composed of two flat pieces of wood and a clamp, a gentleman would place the wrinkled tie between the two pieces of wood, clamp it tight and wind up with a nicely pressed tie. These do actually work and do a great job of removing wrinkles from a knot for example. Modern uses include pressing flowers, etc. and as a decorative dresser item. There is some tarnishing on the metal bits which is characteristic of age. It has small feet, allowing it to stand away from the surface.  It measures 24x9cm and stands 5cm tall (to top of butterly clamps). The metal on the underside of the base is impressed with:"No:718785".
