What is meant by Certified Pre-Owned (CPO)?

Apple Certified Pre-Owned Products are pre-owned Apple products that undergo Apple's stringent processes prior to being offered for sale. These products have been returned under Apple's Return and Refund Policies or have been used as Demonstration units.
