This book aims to provide veterinary practitioners, undergraduates and veterinary nurses with a practical guide to nutrition in dogs and cats. Opening chapters consider anatomy and physiology of the digestive tract, and give a brief overview of feed components in diets. The core chapters describe specific diseases caused by nutritional deficiency or excess, and nutritional therapy for a broad range of conditions. Later chapters examine specific areas of enteral and parenteral feeding, and nutrition in geriatric pets. Appendices provide height and weight tables for various breeds of dog, list nutritional values of feeds for dogs and cats, and give details of commercially available pet foods. There is an index and references are given at the end of each chapter.
