Benefits
Supports Biological Filtration
AF Rock's highly porous structure provides an excellent environment for beneficial bacteria and microorganisms to colonize. This makes it an effective biological filtration medium and helps support important biochemical processes within the aquarium.
Ideal Foundation for Coral Growth
Stable aquarium parameters are essential for healthy coral development. AF Rock helps support stable pH and KH conditions, creating an environment that facilitates coral calcification and the development of harder, healthier coral skeletons.
Greater Control Than Live Rock
Because AF Rock is not live rock, it avoids introducing unwanted organisms such as valonia, aiptasia, dinoflagellates, bryopsis, AEFW and undesirable crabs into your aquarium.
This allows you to build your reef system with greater control over what organisms are introduced.
Lightweight Yet Highly Porous
The high porosity of AF Rock provides an excellent weight-to-volume ratio, making it significantly lighter than many other aquarium rocks. This allows you to create substantial-looking aquascapes without the same weight associated with denser rock.
Unique Natural Appearance
Each piece is hand-made, giving every set its own distinctive shape and character. The carefully selected, ecological pigments help create an attractive appearance that complements a natural reef aquascape.
How to Use
- Rinse before use: Thoroughly rinse AF Rock using RO water before placing it in the aquarium.
- Plan your aquascape: Arrange the pieces to create your desired structure and provide suitable spaces for corals and marine life.
- Shape if required: AF Rock can be cut or broken to achieve the desired size and shape.
- Secure the structure: Use Aquaforest Stone Fix to join rock fragments and create a stable aquascape.
- Add to the aquarium: Position the rock securely in the aquarium before introducing livestock.
- Allow beneficial microorganisms to establish: The porous structure provides surfaces for beneficial bacteria to colonize. Using Bio S bacteria can help accelerate aquarium maturation.
