This wild flower's scientific name Aquilegia is derived from the Latin word for eagle. This is most likely because of the five spurs of the flower which resemble an eagle’s talon! The plant boasts showy flowers that are attractive to birds. The Columbine also self-sows freely. Makes excellent cut flowers. The Blue Columbine grows 60cm to 90cm in height, should be spaced 25cm to 30cm apart in full sun to dappled shade.
