ARABIA FINLAND (1873-present):

Arabia is a Finnish ceramics company, founded in 1873 by Swedish company Rörstran. Arabia has specialised in kitchenware and tableware. Arabia is Finland's most valued brand.
The original Arabia porcelain factory was located in Toukola (Helsinki). It later housed the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture.
In 1947 Wärtsilä corporation provided financial aid, and by the end of next year the factory belonged to them. The Hackman Group bought Arabia in 1990. In 2000 the companies name changed to the Iittala Group. In 2007, the Iittala Group is bought by the Fiskars Group, which was founded in 1649. It is currently still owned by them.
Ulla Procopé, Esteri Tomula and Kaj Franck are among the best-known artists and designers for the company. Esteri Tomula was a ceramic artist and designer who worked at the Arabia ceramics factory in Helsinki, Finland from 1947 to 1984.
