Purchased by our family in Feb 1976, the Arend-Schilling is from the United Provinces of the Netherlands and was minted in the city of 2 Wolle in1595.
It was recovered by The Davy Jones Company from the wreck of the Merestijn, a Dutch East Indian, that ran aground on Sutton Island at the entrance of Saldanha bay, 150 kilometres north of Cape Town on the 3rd of April 1702.
Have a letter to prove authenticity, which will be given with purchase of the coin.
