Aristeguietia salvia or Pega-pega as it is commonly known in Chile belongs to the Asteraceae family in the Asterales order. This ornamental flowering shrub grows to 2 meters in height and bears white flowers. In Chile it is found growing in low altitude interior valleys and coastal mountains at an altitude of 500-2000m. Aristeguietia salvia prefers full sun but will tolerate partial shade. It does not tolerate snow but will tolerate occasional freezes to -5°C.
