A very rare cover with army Field Post Office 1 cachet from the 1960's .....

Hasso Reissner confirms - page 185 of the Special & Commemorative Postmarks, Cachets & Covers of South Africa:

No 1 Field Post Office was opened on -

13th September 1969 as a static unit at Port Alfred Airfield, closing on 10th October 1969 - this cover dated 13th September - First Day of operations!

Taken from a specialised Union / Early Republic cover & Cachet collection - may never appear again on BoB!
