DESCRIPTION:
A figurine of a lady by Stefan Dakon, modelled on British/German actress and singer Lilian Harvey
(1906-68), body and base of unglazed brick-red terracotta, billowing dress in a cream-speckled glaze.
MARKS:
Impressed: Goldscheider, Wien, Germany and model number 8083/9. During WWll
the Nazis forced the Goldscheider's to hand over their firm to Joseph Schuster,
who changed the trademark name from Austria Wien (Vienna) to Wien Germany.
CONDITION:
No cracks or crazing, with one minor chip to rim of base and an area of flaking on top of base.
This in no way diminishes the value of this rare and iconic figurine (see close-up images).
