In 1890, Hollinshead and Kirkham moved to Tunstall, taking over the Unicorn Pottery from Wedgwood. They were in production until the 1950’s. Before joining Wilkinson, Clarice Cliff worked at H & K. After the Paris Exhibition of 1925, where the term Art Deco was coined, Harold Growcott joined H & K, designing an Art Deco range, that has subsequently become known as “The Delicious Dozen.” Viola, the pattern this ewer is decorated in, is an example of one of these. The shape of this jug, with its zigzag handle, shouts Deco. It was designed in the 1920’s. This ewer is signed underneath: R. Growcott - Harold Growcott always signed his name R. Growcott. It stands 16cm tall, and is free of chips, cracks or restoration. Please add R48 for postage.
