Main Uses: One of the most powerful anti-parasitic herbs.
It improves digestion and bile production as well as peristealtic movement of the colon.

Contra-Indications:
Allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Should be avoided by people with stomach and intestinal ulcers. People suffering from psychiatric disorders may also want to consult with their physician prior to using wormwood therapeutically.
Avoid use with hypersensitivity to any of the components of wormwood, particularly the essential oil. It may be contraindicated in patients with an underlying defect with hepatic heme synthesis (thujone is a porphyrogenic terpenoid).
Warnings:
Rated relatively safe when taken in appropriate quantities for short periods of time.
When taken for any ailment if symptoms persist for more than one week consult your doctor or herbal practitioner.
Treating infants and children under 2 with any herbal preparation may be hazardous. Always consult with your doctor or herbal practitioner.
Interactions:
Acetaminophen, Wormwood has a hepatoprotective action against acetaminophen and carbon tetrachloride-induced liver toxicity in rats and mice. The mechanism of action may be associated with inhibition of hepatic microsomal drug metabolizing enzymes, anti-oxidant activity, and/or blocking calcium channels.
GI medications, Theoretically, the plant may affect the efficacy of antacids, histamine-receptor antagonists, proton pump inhibitors, and sucralfate.
Phenobarbital, the thujones in wormwood may reduce the clinical efficacy of phenobarbital by lowering the seizure threshold.
There are no other known interactions; however, with the proliferation of available drugs it is always advisable to consult your doctor or health care professional before taking this or any other supplements.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended. It is therefore always advisable to consult with your doctor or herbal practitioner before taking any medication or supplements.
Side Effects ¿ Only With Mega Doses:
Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these very unlikely but serious side effects that may occur with large doses: stomach pain, mental/mood changes, trouble sleeping, tremors, change in the amount of urine, seizures, numbness, unusual thirst. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Wormwood is safe when used as prescribed however it is not uncommon for users to experience strange and/or vivid dreams while taking the herb due to the compound, thujone. The toxicity of wormwood is attributed to the herb's content of thujone, which can cause convulsions if taken at very high concentrations.
None other expected if you are beyond childhood, basically healthy and do not exceed recommended dosage and use for short periods, but always consult with your doctor before taking this or any medical drugs, herbs or nutritional supplements, particularly if suffering from a serious health condition or on any medication or treatment.
Over Dosage:
Overdose of wormwood may cause intoxication, vomiting, stomach and intestinal cramps, urine retention, stupor, and in serious cases renal damage, convulsions, vertigo, and tremors may occur if taken in high doses.
Accidental overdose such as child ingesting a whole bottle. Obtain immediate medical assistance.
