Arthur Mee – The Children’s Treasure House – Antique Illustrated Books – 10 of 12 Volumes – 1900's

A rare and collectible part-set of The Childrens Treasure House, edited by Arthur Mee and published by The Educational Book Company, UK. Undated, but likely from the 1920s to early 1930s.

Arthur Mee explains in the preface that it has been twelve years since The Children's Encyclopedia "came into the world" (first published in magazine form 19081910 and as a bound set in 1910). This set was created as a companion to that earlier work, aimed at slightly older children. It was intended to "tell more fully here the story of those things that encyclopedias can only touch upon."
