Arthurian Legends by Rosalind Kerven

About the book:
Seven tales drawn from across the full span of the Arthurian tradition, from the oldest Welsh sources through to Malory. The selection is more interesting than the standard Greatest Hits: "How Culhwch Won Olwen" comes from the Mabinogion and predates most of the familiar Camelot material by centuries, while "Elaine who Loved Sir Lancelot" gives space to a figure most retellings treat as a footnote. Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is here too, which is the right call. Each story comes with scholarly notes on its sources, so this works both as a retelling and as a genuine introduction to where the legends actually came from. Well produced and beautifully illustrated.
