"Violet de Provence"
A globe artichoke with a finer flavour than many other varieties and very attractive thistle-like flower heads. Thin or plant 90cm apart and the same between rows. Remove flowerheads in first year to encourage good growth. Cut back stems in autumn and protect crown with mulch. Feed well the following spring to enjoy crops in the second year.
