Growing artichokes can be a rewarding experience, both in terms of the bountiful harvest of delicious artichokes you can harvest and the beautiful ornamental plant that will grow in your garden.

Artichokes need consistent moisture to grow well, so water them regularly, especially during dry spells. You can also fertilize them with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks to promote healthy growth.

Grown as annuals in cooler regions.

Need lots of water to form the edible buds. Artichokes are ready to harvest when the buds are large and firm, but before the scales start to open. Use a sharp knife to cut the bud off the plant, leaving about an inch of stem attached.
